The name LED is originated from Eglish – light emitting diode. Since all electrical energy is consumed for light emission, not for heating of the lighting fixture, light emitted by LED consumes up to 90% less electric energy than other forms of illumination. The anticipated lifetime of LED diodes is 100 000 h or 15-25 years depending on usage intensity.
